The General Education and Training Phase (GET)

Grades 8 & 9

The General Education and Training Band (GET) is designed to be a broad, general course, exposing pupils to a wide range of Learning Areas during the middle years of schooling. The Grade 8 and 9 GET curriculum includes eight learning areas: Languages, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Economic and Management Sciences, Technology, Life Orientation and Creative Arts.

Languages must include a Home Language (English) and a First additional Language (either Afrikaans or isiXhosa). We’ve made provision for a Second Additional Language (either isiXhosa or Afrikaans). In Grade 9 the pupil has a choice between French, Italian or Chinese.

For Creative Arts, we have made special arrangements to accommodate those who wish to choose Music, Art, and Drama as specialised options while others may choose to do a more general option under the banner of Creative Arts.
