The General Education and Training Phase (GET)

Grades 8 & 9

The General Education and Training Band (GET) is designed to be a broad, general course, exposing pupils to a wide range of Learning Areas during the middle years of schooling. The Grade 8 and 9 GET curriculum includes eight learning areas: Languages, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Economic and Management Sciences, Technology, Life Orientation and Creative Arts.

Languages must include a Home Language (English) and a First additional Language (either Afrikaans or isiXhosa). We’ve made provision for a Second Additional Language (either isiXhosa or Afrikaans). In Grade 9 the pupil has a choice between French, Italian or IsiXhosa.
