EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST
WELLNESS AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
Westerford High School requires the services of a dynamic Educational Psychologist to join our Wellness and Development Department with effect from 1 April 2022, on a part-time basis.
Requirements:
The successful applicant should be able to …
- work collaboratively with staff, directing processes which aim to ensure early identification of learning barriers, and the implementing of effective interventions.
- conduct psycho-educational assessments.
- provide career and subject-choice guidance.
- conduct training in executive functioning e.g. helping with improving organisational skills, prioritising etc.
- counsel teenagers e.g. challenges related to peer pressure, conflict resolution, ADHD, depression and anxiety, divorce, trauma.
- present talks to teenagers/parents/staff.
- network effectively and develop resources.
- An understanding of the education environment and of the current societal pressures faced by teenagers.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to converse in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages; fluency in isiXhosa will be highly advantageous.
- Current registration with the HPCSA as an Educational Psychologist, and compliance with CPD requirements.
- Police Clearance certificate (as per Child Protection Act).
